Gitte Eidslott works with painting, with experiments of abstracted objects with perception, composition and the individual and collective psyche as her main themes. It's a way to excerpt time in a battle of randomness and quick decisions, where the tangible and physical replaces the inner image. Furthermore she investigates complexity and simplicity of the surface. A brush-stroke that appears hasty and intuitive can be thoroughly planned for days; a shape that looks decisive and strict appears as she might have done it in a few seconds. The colors work with one another as well as against one another as a crucial part of the composition. She draws inspiration from everyday objects, situations and, – even more so – a state of mind, by shedding light on the mundane, the trivial and the extraordinary aspects of life.
Gitte Eidslott is based in Malmö, Sweden. She graduated from Valand Academy in Gothenburg and Akademie der bildenden Künste in 2012.
